GameStop Anticipates $7.5B in Sales From the NX in its First Two Years
In a recent release from GameStop via their corporate twitter account they had this to say about the Nintendo NX
GameStop seems to be extremely optimistic about the Nintendo NX, anticipating it to bring in half the sales of that of the Wii in the systems first two years on the market. This information comes in after GameStop lays out a plan to get into the Virtual Reality market. While it’s good to see that GameStop is optimistic, it should be taken with a grain of salt, after all they also believed the Wii U would take off to be the next big thing as well. However it may be safe to assume GameStop may be privileged to some information on the NX that has not been disclosed to the public yet, sparking this level of optimism from them.
Nintendo expects to fully unveil the NX at a press event later this year. We will keep you posted on any official news about the NX as it develops.

Nintendo Has Shipped 4.27M Copies of Splatoon
In the recent investor’s meeting from Nintendo, Nintendo was happy to report that Splatoon’s success continues to shine even as we approach the one year anniversary of the title. Nintendo has reported that they have shipped 4.27 million copies of Splatoon.
The driving factor behind Wii U hardware sales over the fiscal year ended March 2016 was Splatoon, released in May of last year. Strong sales have continued into 2016, leading us to ship 4.27 million units worldwide in this fiscal year. This title started off with early appeal among core gamers and has gradually spread to the young consumer and female demographics, providing an excellent illustration of Nintendo’s strengths.
Splatoon is also still extremely popular in Japan, with currently 1.49 Million units sold, and with 790,000 players participating in the most recent Splatfest in Japan alone.
Nintendo has also reported that in Japan alone the Splatoon Amiibos have sold near 1 Million units.
It’s really good to see a new IP from Nintendo taking off extremely well like this. It will be interesting to see how sales continue to grow, and what future the series has.
Rare Shows Us Project Dream
Former developers at Rare sit down and talk about the long lost RPG Project Dream that started as an SNES game to a N64 game finally to Banjo-Kazooie. It’s quite interesting to see just how much a game can change over the course of its development time.
It will be interesting to see if Sea of Thieves will take any inspiration from the original Project Dream aspect. Sea of Thieves will launch on Xbox One and PC sometime next year.
