Harvest Moon The Light of Hope Review-Nothing but Despair
Developers:Natsume
Publisher: Natsume
Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4
MRSP: $29.99
Harvest Moon the Light of Hope is Natsume’s fifth Harvest Moon game since the split with Marvelous. This game is also Natsume’s celebration for the series 20th Anniversary in the west, and seems to be a good indicator of where this series will be heading for the future. So now we need to ask how did Natsume do with this game? Did they learn from the several mistakes and finally create a game that could compete with the mainline Bokujo series, or is this a game filled with despair rather than hope?

After a series of spin offs for the “Samurai Warriors 4” line of games, “Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada” seems to be bringing them to a close. Going for a much more linear, drama based story mode instead of the wide scale story angles told in the previous games we see a departure from the traditional Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors spin offs. Does Spirit of Sanada have enough original ideas and mechanics to set itself apart from the plethora of other history based musou games?

Story:
The story of the Warring States Period is one the Samurai Warriors games will tell again and again until they can’t scrape any new details from the history books. Spirit of Sanada tells the story of these events from the Sanada clan, and does so rather well. The characters are well fleshed out and a lot more likeable than previous entries in the series. They are are only two major gripes I have. One is the pacing between the multi-stage battles has you doing very pointless and repetitive side missions which old within the first few hours. The second is the very confusing and underwhelming ending. It is very undramatized from history almost to a fault. For them to change small details about the events but not change the ending to be a little bit more fulfilling to the character is an odd choice.
Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon Review
Developer: Game Freak
Publisher: Nintendo of America
ESRB: E
MRSP: $39.99
Thank You Nintendo for a Review Copy of this Game
Pokemon Sun and Moon revamped the structure of the series by doing away with the traditional gym challenge, and replacing it with the island challenge. The island challenge is a much more personal journey, where the player travels across Alola to clear trials from seven captains, and become the island challenge champion. Where this differs from gyms, is what you’re doing in each trial. Some trials involve defeating wild Pokemon to advance, solving puzzles, or even a simple memory game. At the end of each trial is a fearsome Totem Pokemon. A gargantuan version of a Pokemon that is related to that island. After every trial on an island is completed you fight the Kahuna, the strongest trainer on the Island. As a new trainer in the Alola region, can you conquer the Island challenge?

The Professor Layton franchise has managed to achieve consistency in quality ever since its first entry released ten years ago. Azran Legacy was the end of a very solid prequel trilogy, and here we are going forward with a brand new cast of characters. Does Lady Layton continue to provide an excellent Visual Novel and Puzzle game experience? There will be no major story spoilers in this review.

“Fire Emblem Warriors” has been the pipedream that fans of both Musou and Fire Emblem games have wanted for years. With Koei Tecmo game polls and fan UI mockups being posted on the internet for years, seeing the announcement at the Nintendo Switch conference earlier this year was a dream come true for so many people. Since then we’ve learned information about the game that has become very divisive among fans. Does this game live up the expectations of both sets of fans? Or does it fall to being overly ambitious like so many other games today? Today we take a look.

Cyberdimension Neptunia 4 Goddesses Online is the latest spin off in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. Wow, I feel like I say that sentence a lot when reviewing these games. This game marks the first spin off Neptunia game on the PlayStation 4 over the PlayStation Vita, and for good reason to. This is also the first game in the series to make use of Unreal Engine 4.The amount of detail in the visuals shows. So how does this spin off hold up to the other ones?
Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash review Not a splash. Just a drip.
Developer: Marvelous
Publisher: XSEED
Platform: PS4
ESRB Rating: T
Release Date: September 26th, 2017
MRSP:$69.99/$59.99
Thank you to XSEED for providing the game for reviewing purposes.
While Summer is over, you can keep it going forever in Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash. The titular series takes us to the pool this time around for some crazy ninja water gun fights. But wait, melee attacks and ninja arts are more or less banned, so how does this play out? By being a third person shooter of course. That said, we’re going into complete uncharted territory here since the franchise is known for being a brawler/musou-esque gameplay design depending on which game it is. Not only that, but this game is also the series’s 5th year anniversary game go figure.
